Sunspot geomagnetic surge warning: effects on 10 August 10, 2010 |
First 7 of 7 paragraphs shown Impact of the coronal mass ejection was expected around 10 August. The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) AR 1093 produced a M1.0 flare on August 7th, starting at 17:55 UT and peaking at 18:24 UT. A metric type II burst was observed from Humain (Belgium) starting around 18:09 UT. Behind COR2 observations show: - a wide coronal mass ejection (CME) - s a massive burst of solar wind, other light isotope plasma, and - magnetic fields rising above the solar corona, associated with this event, which is likely to be seen as a halo coronal mass ejection (CME) from Earth, with possible geomagnetic effects in the following days, possibly on Aug. 10th (first crude estimate). ...Log in to read rest of Article or image. |
